Cobiton: A Natural Living and Recreation Space in Mountainous Achaia

NATURAL

architectural design, construction: ΑΙΘΡΙΟ|architecture

Cobiton, a natural living and recreation space in mountainous Achaia, is a small paradise for those who wish to escape the city pace and connect with nature. Located just 40 minutes from Patras, it is the creation of Alexis, the owner and founder of the site.
Alexis, with his love for the forest, the mountain, and the countryside, envisions Cobiton as a recreational and meeting point for people who share these values. To achieve this, he organizes workshops, seminars, and events that promote connection with nature and self-awareness.
Our office, specialized in natural building, closely collaborates with Alexis to realize his vision. We have been and continue to carry out small-scale constructions on the site, gradually creating the necessary infrastructure to serve visitors.
Our design approach aims to create playful, fairy-tale-like organic forms, adopting a low tech and DIY structural logic. The constructions are carried out with the help of friends, volunteers, and local craftsmen, fostering a community that contributes to bringing Alexis's vision to life.
We invite you to visit Cobiton and "find your true nature," as Alexis says. Come and experience a unique adventure and enjoy the beauty of mountainous Achaia.

Outdoor living room/Caravan Shelter and Outdoor Arrangements

For the construction, techniques such as cob, tsatma, earthbags, and adobe were used. The stones for the stonework are local river stones. The plasters are natural, lime-based, and the kitchen countertop and sink were waterproofed using the tadelakt technique. The coloring was done with mineral pigments in the plaster.

Bathroom/Toilet

The bathroom was constructed from compressed earth blocks (CEB). The plasters are natural, lime and earth-based. The shower and sink countertop were waterproofed using the tadelakt technique, while the floor was made with polished cement. The coloring was done with mineral pigments in the plaster.

Tiny house

This tiny house was built using the straw clay technique. The construction is still in progress.
